SEAI have confirmed that DCB affected homeowners can apply for SEAI home energy upgrade grants. We have been approached by effected homeowner who are applying for SEAI grants through project coordinator’s. These homeowners have requests Pre BERs and/ or technical Assessment. We also undertake Part L report for homeowners who have applied for planning permission.
The benefits of a higher BER rating
Part L Compliance Report: Part L of the building regulations sets out the requirements for the conservation of fuel and energy of your home. A Part L report is required by building control if you are applying for planning permission. Typically, on completion, new builds have to have a Building Energy Rating (BER) of A2 and incorporate a renewable energy source.
Pre Works BER: A BER certificate rates your home’s energy performance on a grading scale from A to G. At present homeowners are requesting a Pre Works BER prior to demolition. This is important as the BER assessor has to get photographic evidence as part of the assessment of the existing dwelling.
Technical Assessment: The technical assessment reports identifies and provide specifications on energy efficient upgrades that the homeowner can take to achieve a BER rating of B2 or above and 100kW/hr/m2/yr uplift.
